Supercell decided to drive things up a notch with the Clan Capital update. The update brought with it Raid Weekends and the ever-elusive Raid Medals. As a beginner, you might consider it hard to get your hands on the Medals.
But why miss out on the chance to earn some bragging rights when it’s as simple as participating during Raid Weekends? Not to mention, the Medals can be traded in for some essential items in the game.

What are Raid Medals?

Raid Medals are one of the four awards handed out at the end of the Raid Weekend. Think of them as something similar to the Clan War Leagues except there is one difference. Instead of League Medals, you get Raid Medals.
These Medals can then be used to buy resources and Magic Items in the Trader’s Shop. Or you can also use them to donate troops to yourself and fill up the Clan Castle. Needless to say, Raid Medals are not merely trophies. They actually hold importance in the game.
How Can You Get Raid Medals?

You can earn Raid Medals in two different ways in Clash of Clans. We have outlined them below:
- Attacking: The first way to earn Raid Medals during the Raid Weekend is by attacking the opposing Clan. Each player is granted five initial attacks. You get an additional attack if you manage to earn 3 stars during an attack.
Your goal is simple – destroy everything in sight, reduce districts to ashes, and get the maximum possible stars. At the end of the weekend, the success of your overall attacks will determine how many Raid Medals you walk away with.
- Defending: The second way to earn Raid Medals during the Raid Weekend is by defending. It all depends on if your Clan manages to thwart enemy attacks. All successful defenses add up in the Defense Log and determine how many Raid Medals your clan gets at the end of the weekend.
However, it’s worth noting that only the Clan Leader or the Co-Leader can organize the defense of your Clan. So fingers crossed they know what they’re doing! Remember you need to destroy at least one enemy District to be eligible for the Raid Medals for defense.
Keep in mind that the Raid Medals are only given out at the end of the weekend. So you will have to wait until the battles are over to collect your awards.
The number of Raid Medals awarded depends on the number of districts destroyed along with the number of attacks completed. Each district destroyed entitles you to a fixed number of Medals which is determined by the level of the central building.
The number of Raid Medals earned from defending depends on the amount of housing space that a Clan’s defenses manage to take out.
Each player can hold a maximum number of 5,000 Raid Medals. If you exceed this number, the extra medals will automatically be converted to Gems. You will get 1 Gem for every 100 Raid Medals.
How to Calculate Raid Medals for Each Player in the Clan?

Rest assured that each member of the clan gets his due share of the Raid Medals. This is because Clash of Clans has a set criteria for determining how many Raid Medals each player gets. We have outlined them below:
- Attacking: For Raid Medal bonuses earned for attacking, the total number of medals earned by the Clan is divided by the total number of attacks carried out by the Clan. This gives you the number of medals earned per attack, which is then multiplied by the number of attacks carried out by the player.
- Defending: For Raid Medal bonuses earned for defending, the Clan’s defense log is analyzed. You are entitled to a Medal for every 25 housing spaces destroyed. The highest medal count out of all the raids is deemed as the Defending Raid Medal bonus.
What Happens to your Raid Medals when you Leave your Clan?

If you participated during your Clan’s Raid Weekend but then left the Clan, then no worries. You will still receive your share of Raid Medals. This includes the bonuses for completely wiping out enemy districts regardless of whether you were a part of the Clan or not.
The same goes for the Raid Medal bonus for annihilating the Districts in the enemy’s Capital and the defense bonuses. However, if you choose to leave your Clan without participating during the Raid weekend, then you will not be entitled to any Raid Medals.
Conclusion
All in all, Raid Medals can be easily earned during Raid Weekend. Just make sure you are participating with your Clan. This way you will be entitled to both the Attacking and Defending Raid Medal bonus.
You will receive your share of the awards once the Raid Weekend concludes, which you can then use to spend at the Trader’s Shop or fill your Clan Castle troops. So remember to sharpen your swords and train your dragons! Victory shall surely be yours!
